Everyone is hoping 2010 is the year we start seeing some improvements in the market. My clients still feel the pain of the economy yet their competition is getting stronger in all areas. I can see the web is changing constantly to a point where the average business just say “screw it”. The constant up and down in their ranking makes them nervous and edgy about Internet marketing in general. Google maps was suppose to be for the small businesses but it’s being played by competition and spamming. SEO, once was the ticket is now expensive and sometimes hard to justify with all the new social media channels popping out of nowhere. The one area that is consistent to reach an audience is pay per click, this is in terms with business that have to sell a product or service. I am not just saying this because I do pay per click. I am saying this as an opinion partly because the playing field is really not even. Larger companies with bigger budgets hire experts to manually build links and optimize their sites but it’s just not what the natural business world would do. Given that, you just keep doing the seo and linking and hope for the best. One thing I can count on is the pay per click results, buy the traffic, guide the searcher to the site (landing page) and do what you can to convert them. Simple to understand, simple to execute and more and more simple to sell the idea.
